Make a Panther Connection!
Welcome, Class of '24
We're excited that you're joining us! While circumstances this summer make it impossible for us to meet in person, we've developed some virtual opportunities to help you connect with other first-year students.
The Center for Creativity offers two spaces on campus -- The Workshop and the Text & conText Studio -- that provide all kinds of making materials and equipment both digital (iMacs with Adobe Creative Cloud, 3D printer, and laser cutter) and analog (a Vandercook printing press, art supplies, sewing machine, and clay wheel), as well as musical instruments (piano, drum set, guitars) and more! We also offer guided workshops, open mic nights, special events, and other programming throughout the year.
And all of our spaces, programs, and materials are available to you as Pitt students completely free of charge!
Events of special interest for first-year students are listed below, but any of the programs and opportunities on this site are open to you, so please check our program page and get involved! The programs below operate on the Zoom platform, so be sure to download before signing up. And if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us!

Zoom | Open Mic Night
When we're on campus, the C4C hosts monthly open mic nights open to performers in any genre (music, spoken word, improv, skits, storytelling, dance, poems: anything you can perform!) and all skill levels, from first-timers to experienced performers. We offer a "stage" and a supportive environment; you provide your own unique, creative voice!
This summer, we've upped the number of open mics we offer, and moved them online. So if you're a little shy, you can turn your video off or perform off-screen, or put your pet in front of the camera. Or just tune in to support your new Pitt community and give us those "clap" reacts....
Performance spots are 6-8 minutes, but you don't have to take up the whole time: if you want to perform just one song or poem, that's totally fine!
